Now I'm as tired as Spanish films about the Civil War as the next person - it's time to move on, no? But I just got back from the San Sebastián film festival, where Pa negre (Black Bread) by Agusti Villaonga was the best film I saw, a gripping tale of a rural lad’s first exposure to evil in Spain’s post-Civil War years, based on a novel by Emili Teixidor. I suspect it'll get a warmer reception abroad than in Spain, so I hope it plays one day in a cinema near you.
