Calling all Pedro Almodóvar fans: the Spanish-language film of the year in 2009 in Spain will be Almodóvar's "Los abrazos rotos". Today's news is that ahead of that film's release, Almodóvar will be putting out a new short. This is big news in the Spanish movie world. It premieres on Spanish pay TV this Friday, but no doubt it will appear on the Net before too long - and when it does, we'll make sure you're the first to know. Después de 30 años, el director de cine español Pedro Almodóvar vuelve al corto. El próximo viernes 13 de febrero la cadena de televisión española CANAL+ estrenará La concejala antropófaga dentro del programa Almodóvar en corto. Junto al estreno, la cadena emite también una entrevista con el director donde explica las razones de su vuelta a este género menor.
El impulso creativo surgió durante el rodaje de su próxima película, Los abrazos rotos, que se estrenará dentro de un mes. Pero la musa de este proyecto no es Penélope Cruz, su actriz fetiche y protagonista de Los abrazos rotos, sino Carmen Machi. El talento interpretativo de esta actriz española le inspiró un monólogo a su medida, pero con todos los ingredientes del peculiar universo “almodovariano”: la mujer abandonada, la maleta llena de recuerdos, el gazpacho… En el breve monólogo de esta concejala madura y ansiosa sexualmente , veremos al Almodóvar de sus orígenes, al provocador, al incorrecto, al divertido.
